Located in the heart of Copenhagen's Østerbro district, Hotel Charlottehaven provides a quiet oasis in the city. Here, the warmth and comfort of home meet the calm luxury of attentive service.
Grounded in the narrative of comfort and intimacy, the principal goal was to provide the entrance lobby with a new reception desk that would reflect the values of Charlottehaven and help bring forward a calm and inviting atmosphere.
Working with natural elements and bespoke craftsmanship, the front desk was designed to combine functionality and aesthetics. Charlottehaven's original 11-metre reception desk in Jura Grau marble provides a striking, yet formal element that lends the space a certain stillness. To soften and activate this presence, we introduced the warmth of oak, creating a tactile contrast to the cool marble.
A dynamic display system was developed to allow Charlottehaven to adapt the space to changing needs. Inspired by the logic of a classic wooden tray that slides effortlessly into place, the system enables flexible arrangements while maintaining a coherent architectural expression. Referencing the building's window frames, the warm oak with walnut detailing creates a subtle interplay with the marble and defines a new spatial division between the reception and the adjoining sports café.
Here, simple lines and honest materials establish a dialogue between the contemporary and the timeless.
